Machu Picchu, Peru's Most Famous Historical Travel Destination


INPHEDIA.ID - Machu Picchu which in Quechua language, Machu Pikchu means "Old Mountain" or often also called "the lost city of the Incas" is the most famous symbol of the Inca Kingdom. Machu Picchu a historic site that is also a tourist attraction which is about 70 kilometers northwest of Cusco at an altitude of 2,350 meters above the Urubamba Valley, Peru.

The pre-Columbian Inca ruins city was built in 1450, but was abandoned a hundred years later when the Spanish conquered the Inca Kingdom. The main building is Machu Picchu, in the form of Intihuatana, the Temple of the Sun, and the Three-Window Room. These places are called the Sacred District of Machu Picchu. Machu Picchu site was forgotten internationally, but not by the local community.

This site was again found by archeologists from Yale Hiram Bingham III University in 1911. Since then, Machu Picchu has become an attractive tourist attraction for local and foreign tourists. Machu Picchu, designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1983, and also one of the Seven Wonders of the World, was built in an ancient Incan style with polished stone walls.

With all its beauty and uniqueness, this tourist spot in Peru is the most famous, most crowded, and most unique. Many people say tourist visits to Peru are incomplete if they haven't visited Machu Picchu. So, if you are going to or are in Peru do not not take the time to visit the Machu Picchu site.
